We Love PennApps XXV

A just-for-fun Chrome extension that replaces everything you type with "I love PennApps," awarded Most Useless Hack at PennApps XXV.

Winner: Most Useless App University of Pennsylvania · PennApps XXV · 2024

Overview

A Chrome extension that restricts typing to “I Love PennApps” and displays the PennApps XXV logo across webpages. We built it just for fun during PennApps and were awarded the most fitting title imaginable: “Most Useless Hack.”

What I built

A funny Chrome extension we built at the University of Pennsylvania during PennApps just for fun. We (Savar Jain and I, shoutout to him) injected a script that forces everything you type on your keyboard to become “I love PennApps,” and replaces all images and videos you see with PennApps XXV visuals.

We didn’t really have time to seriously hack, but we had so much fun networking and meeting people that we decided to build something just to remember the moment. It’s honestly one of the coolest and fastest hacks I’ve done; it took us about 5–10 minutes.
